Classes at RNSD

At RNSD we offer a wide range of dance opportunities for all ages, from Ballet, Tap and Freestyle to Pointe, Conditioning and fun Adult classes.

For our youngest dancers, the award-winning babyballet® programme introduces children to the joy of movement from just 18 months.

Every class is designed to inspire confidence, build strong technique, and nurture creativity, with regular opportunities to take exams, perform in shows, and be part of a supportive dance family.

Foundation (Reception age)

Once children start school, they can explore Ballet, Tap and Freestyle. These fun and engaging classes introduce strong foundations in dance while keeping the joy and playfulness alive.

Juniors (years 1 - 7)

As children grow, they progress into more structured training with Ballet, Tap and Freestyle, while also experiencing styles such as theatre craft, modern jazz, lyrical and contemporary. Conditioning is also built into classes to develop strength and technique.

Teens (years 8 - 13)

For older students, we offer progression in Ballet, Tap and Freestyle, alongside Pointe work and conditioning to support safe, advanced training. These classes encourage expression, performance and personal growth, whether dancing for fun or working towards exams.

18 years + (Adults)

It’s never too late to dance! Our Adult Ballet and Adult Tap classes are designed to build fitness, flexibility and confidence in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

Dance Styles

Ballet

From age 4 upwards, our Ballet classes develop strength, discipline and artistry, with opportunities to progress right through to advanced levels and Pointe work for teens. Adults can also enjoy Ballet in our friendly, supportive classes.

Tap

Available from age 4, Tap is full of rhythm and energy, building timing, coordination and confidence. Classes continue through childhood and into adulthood, with dedicated Adult Tap sessions too.

Freestyle

Starting from age 4, our Freestyle classes are fun and expressive, covering a mix of theatre craft, lyrical, contemporary, modern jazz and upbeat pop routines for younger dancers. As students grow, they explore more advanced styles and choreography.

Pointe

Offered to older students who have built the required Ballet foundations, Pointe classes develop strength, technique and artistry, always taught with a focus on safe progression.

Conditioning

Built into classes for Juniors upwards, conditioning supports strength, flexibility and stamina, helping dancers improve technique and perform safely at their best.

babyballet®

For little ones aged 18 months to school age, babyballet® introduces children to dance through imagination, music and movement – a magical first step on their dance journey.
