Welcome to Ruth Nuttall School of Dance
About Our School
Founded in 2014, Ruth Nuttall School of Dance has grown from a small group of children in a village hall into a thriving, welcoming community of dancers. Based in Long Hanborough, we offer a wide range of classes for children, teens and adults, from the very first steps in babyballet® through to advanced training in Ballet, Tap, Freestyle and Pointe.

Our ethos is simple: to inspire confidence, nurture creativity and provide high-quality dance training in a supportive environment. Every dancer at RNSD has the opportunity to take part in IDTA exams, perform in our whole school theatre shows and showcases, and represent the school at local events — creating memories and friendships that last a lifetime.
We are proud to offer a place where every dancer, no matter their age or ability, feels part of something special.
Founder & Principal
Miss Nuttall
Ruth Nuttall has been passionate about dance since the age of five, taking part in exams, competitions, championships and performances from a young age. At just 18, she achieved the highest-level Licentiate qualification with the IDTA and has been teaching ever since. Before establishing her own school, she taught across many dance schools and brings a wealth of experience to every class.
Ruth is also a qualified Early Years and Primary School teacher (QTS), having worked in both primary and high schools. This background gives her a deep understanding of how children learn, and shapes her teaching style to be both nurturing and structured.
Alongside running RNSD, Ruth also leads the babyballet® franchise for Oxfordshire, bringing the joy of dance to little ones from 18 months upwards. As a mum of two — both of whom dance and help at the school — Ruth understands the value of a supportive, family-focused dance community, and this sits at the heart of everything she does.
